Our Members
From babies to teens… and beyond
Our membership is diverse and dynamic – just like the services we offer – and new families are always warmly welcomed. Our running costs are heavily subsidised through the funds we, our members and our supporters raise, however families are asked to become members of PSDS and make a small contribution for the services they access. We have grown from 7 families when PSDS first started to well over 100. The babies who inspired us to start a charity are now at college. It is a great privilege to share our members’ journeys and to celebrate each stage of their young person’s development.
By families, for families
Being a parent led charity, we have direct experience of the challenges involved in making sure our young people with Down syndrome receive appropriate levels of support, whether through healthcare, education or access to social opportunities. The enormous benefit of families being able to offer advice to each other and share their experiences cannot be underestimated.
East Surrey and West Sussex
The services we offer are located in the East Surrey area, although our membership now reaches in to West Sussex and further afield. Many families are willing to travel to access the support we offer and we appreciate the effort they make. We recently moved in to our first ever dedicated premises – 42a Prices Lane, Reigate RH2 8AX – where all our services are now located.
