Awesome Awareness Week

Thank you to everyone who rocked their socks during Down Syndrome Awareness Week, attended one of our events or organised an event or fundraiser of their own. We appreciate every donation and gesture of support across a wide range of activities which included our Coffee Morning and Book Sale; our Quiz Night with it’s incredible raffle, auction and booze bonanza draw; our Rock Your Socks disco and Rock The Mic karaoke socials for our children, teens and young adults; and our inspirational “22 we share” photo exhibition which was the perfect way to round off a busy week. We were also invited to deliver talks about PSDS and Down Syndrome Awareness Week, plus a number of nurseries, pre-schools and primary schools attended by our children have been busy rocking their socks. Local businesses have stepped up to support us too, including Desire2Dance Crawley, County Clothes in Reigate and Monte Forte Neapolitan Pizza. We’ve been tagged in many social media posts highlighting the importance of inclusion and celebrating diversity – including Crawley Town FC who rocked their socks during training and posted a message of support for PSDS.

We are so grateful for all the opportunities to raise awareness and raise funds during this important week in our calendar. Our Awareness Week 2026 total is currently £8,358 – with donations still coming in from schools who joined in the sock rocking. Thanks to all our members and supporters whose collective efforts are making such a difference by helping to fund our essential services.

We are already looking forward to Down Syndrome Awareness Week 2027 – it will be an extra special one as we also celebrate PSDS turning 21 next year. Woo hoo!!
