Exciting New Stage For Charlotte
We were really thrilled to hear about PSDS member Charlotte’s new role, as a teaching assistant for the Saturday afternoon school at Stagecoach Performing Arts Epsom.
Charlotte’s mum, Nikki, tells us more…
“Charlotte began her dance journey at the age of six, enrolling in The Phillomena Dance School in Banstead, where she worked her way through a variety of disciplines, including ballet, tap, theatre craft and street dance, earning numerous awards for her achievements in each area.
Driven by a desire to expand her skills beyond dance, Charlotte made the decision to join Stagecoach, where she could add singing and drama to her repertoire. Over the past three years, she has thoroughly enjoyed attending the Saturday afternoon sessions with Rachel and her dedicated team. Charlotte especially loved participating in the performances and shows, which allowed her to further develop her passion for the performing arts.
When she turned twenty, Charlotte spoke with us about how she could continue pursuing her love of performing. When the team suggested that she could become an assistant with the younger group, Charlotte was thrilled by the opportunity. This new role has allowed her to remain actively involved in the Stagecoach community.
Charlotte helps Rachel with teaching the younger children both dancing and singing. She sometimes takes a small group aside to help them practice their dance moves and learn the lyrics to new songs. Charlotte also helps to distribute the song lyrics and guides the children as they transition between classes or when they need to visit the bathroom.
If the newer and younger children require extra support to feel comfortable and settle in, Charlotte is always there to offer reassurance and a comforting hug. At the end of each Saturday session, she stands at the door to assist the students as they wait for their parents to arrive.”
We asked Charlotte what she likes best about her teaching assistant role and she emphatically replied: “I like helping children learn new dance moves and sing with a microphone!”
Stagecoach Epsom Principal, Rachel added: “Charlotte brings so much to our Saturday afternoon school with her energy and enthusiasm. She is fantastic with the younger children, especially if they are feeling a bit shy or just need a little encouragement.”
Well done Miss Charlotte – what a fabulous role model you are to the Stagecoach students.
