The Mayor & Chair Visit 42a
The sun may have forgotten to shine, but it was bright smiles all round at 42a Prices Lane on Sunday for the PSDS Garden Open Day. Over 100 visitors came along to view the results of the fabulous makeover which has taken place during the Summer thanks to a Large Community Projects grant from Your Fund Surrey.
VIP guests included Tim Hall, the Chair of Surrey County Council, who officially opened the garden with help from a group of our young people; the Mayor and Mayoress of Reigate & Banstead; trustees from St Faith’s Trust; the MP for Reigate, Rebecca Paul; local councillors Catherine Baart and Jonathan Hulley, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning; representatives from Your Fund Surrey and PSDS Patron Rick Wates.
Also in attendance were our trustees, along with families representing each of the different age group services within PSDS – from toddlers to teens and young adults and all ages in between! It was lovely to celebrate with some of our wonderful volunteers too.
PSDS Chair Vicky welcomed guests to the event and explained what a difference support like that of Your Fund Surrey makes. Councillor Rich Michalowski, Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, referenced the important role PSDS plays in the local community and Councillor Tim Hall, Surrey CC Chair, congratulated the team involved in the garden project and assured us of the council’s continued support.
During a fun-packed afternoon, visitors enjoyed chatting over refreshments, face painting, craft activities, a pre-loved book stall and a raffle which raised £200 for PSDS. We are also really grateful to our friends at Bramley House Residential Home in Westcott who kindly sponsored the crafts area where flower crowns, painted pebbles and sun-catchers were proudly produced by our children and young people. Special thanks also to the families who helped in the lead up to and during the event, and the clean-up crew! A true team effort all round and a great way to show our local community what PSDS and our super members are all about.
Watch this space for more news about our amazing garden and the benefits it will bring to our families, our services teams and the local community. Well done to all involved in achieving such a great result, especially the hard working garden team who put in long hours to get the garden ready for Sunday’s opening.
