Branching Out…

PSDS is one of many community based groups across the UK taking part in a remarkable initiative that promises to transform our community green spaces and nurture biodiversity. I Dig Trees, the award winning programme from The Conservation Volunteers, is empowering local people to take action by planting millions of trees for climate, wildlife and communities.

Thanks to support from Surrey County Council (whose aim is to plant 1 million trees in community spaces by 2030), a group of volunteers recently joined PSDS Chair, Vicky (pictured centre in the red wellies), and some of our DIGBIES children and parents, to plant 250 whips and 6 fruit trees at 42a.

Our very own pocket forest is one of over 3,000 planted to-date through the I Dig Trees initiative which has so far provided over 3.7 million free trees to community groups and schools across the UK.

We are so grateful to The Conservation Volunteers and Surrey CC for supporting PSDS and making our garden greener. As well as enhancing our outdoor space, our trees will benefit the climate, attract an array of birds, insects and mammals and strengthen our links with our local community.

We can’t wait to watch the trees at 42a grow and flourish, just like our amazing children and young people!
